The mysterious figure, who is only known as Grey, said he carried out a distributed denial of service (DDoS) on Cheshire Police's site on March 3.
A DDoS is described as an attempt to make a server or network unavailable to users.
It is believed that it is usually done by temporarily interrupting or suspending the services of a host connected to the internet.
The hacker, who operates from within Cheshire, said 'there will be more action in the future'."
